Bryan Rachal, University Communications FLORENCE, Ala. - Rapper and political activist Chuck D will speak at the University of North Alabama, Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m., to discuss "Rap, Race and Reality." Chuck D is the leader and co-founder of the legendary rap group Public Enemy, the author of two critically acclaimed books, a political activist, publisher, radio host and producer. Director of University Residences, Dr. Kevin Jacques, said D's presentation will be a unique opportunity for students, faculty and staff, as well as the community. "When looking at the opportunity to help educate our students outside the classroom, we thought Chuck D would provide an amazing opportunity to speak to students about current issues," said Jacques. "How often do you get the chance to listen to and interact with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member as well as one of the most influential individuals in the rap and hip hop world," he said. The event will take place in Norton Auditorium on campus and is free and open to the public. For more information: http://oefg.xt23z.com/liveon/ or 256-765-5558.
