FLORENCE, Ala. - Oliver and Terry Holler's replica DeLorean time machine raised $1,078 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research during last week's George Lindsey UNA Film Festival. Most of the donations were made during the car's four public appearances at the festival. Another $83 was contributed by preschool, kindergarten and elementary students at Kilby Laboratory School on the University of North Alabama campus, when the DeLorean made a private appearance for the schoolchildren.
The BTTF.com DeLorean time machine was built by the Hollers, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., to carefully match the original seen in the "Back to the Future" trilogy. Its features include the famous flux capacitor and functional circuit displays. Information on the Hollers and their car is available at ToTheFuture.org and at www.DeLoreanTimeMachine.com. The George Lindsey UNA Film Festival is one of the few film festivals hosted by a university. The event was founded in 1998 in part by UNA alumnus and celebrated actor and entertainer George Lindsey. Lindsey's own film career has included several important roles, including the character Goober Pyle on "The Andy Griffith Show."
